It is estimated that Nepal has between ten and twenty thousand Tibetan refugees living within its borders. Soon after the first wave of arrivals, the Nepalese Government assisted by the International Committee of the Red Cross set up relief programmes to help the refugees. Milk and food distribution, medical supplies, housing, educational facilities and employment are included in the relief programme.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1718 was adopted unanimously by the United Nations Security Council. The resolution, passed under Chapter VII, Article 41, of the UN Charter, imposes a series of economic and commercial sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (the DPRK, or North Korea) in the aftermath of that nation's claimed nuclear test of 9 October, 2006.
Security Council calls for eradicating ISIL safe havens in Syria and Iraq
The United Nations Security Council this evening called on all countries that can do so to take the war on terrorism to territory controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Syria and Iraq and destroy its safe haven, warning that the group intends to mount further terror attacks like those that devastated Paris and Beirut last week.
